Isaac Odoom is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Carleton University, Canada, specializing in International Relations and the Politics of Development in the Global South, with a focus on Africa. Dr. Odoom earned his PhD in Political Science, with a concentration in International Relations and Comparative Development, from the University of Alberta, Canada. He serves as a Non-Resident Fellow at the Centre for Asian Studies, University of Ghana, Accra, and has held a position as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of West Asian and African Studies, Beijing, China. Before his appointment at Carleton's Department of Political Science, he lectured at the University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan University, Concordia University of Edmonton, and the Lancaster University (Accra Campus). Dr. Odoom's research interests include African Politics, International Development, Africa-China relations, China's foreign policy, South-South Cooperation, and the Political Economy of Development in the Global South. He is also engaged in Critical International Relations and critical pedagogy, exploring issues of academic dependency and the decolonization of higher education. His current research focuses on Africa-China development relations and the impact of Chinese technology investments in Canada and across West Africa.
